Does the chassis number on the car match the one on the customs and registration documents?

Have you seen the original customs and import documents, not photocopies?

Is the seller the person named on the registration documents, or authorised by them in writing?

Do you know what the registration transfer involves, and who will pay for it?

History

Have you seen service or import records that show the mileage at an earlier date?

Have you looked for the accident history from the country the car was imported from?

Does the wear on the seats, pedals and steering wheel fit the mileage shown?

Has the seller said in writing whether the car has had accident or flood damage?

Condition

Has a mechanic you chose, not one the seller chose, inspected the car?

Have you driven the car yourself, starting from cold?

Have you checked the bodywork for repainting, uneven panel gaps or welding?

Do you have a written estimate for the repairs the car needs?

Price and payment

Have you compared the price with similar cars that have actually sold locally?

Will you pay only when the car and its documents are handed over, or through escrow?

Will you get a signed sale agreement that names the price and the chassis number?
